His dynamic leadership, characterized by strong management skills, a methodical approach, and a focus on customer satisfaction, has fuelled success across the private sector, public sector, and in the Middle East and Africa. With numerous awards for sales under his belt and executive roles in various multinational companies, Andile’s proven talent for aligning business strategies with core objectives resonates in every role he undertakes. His new position with BT Industrial Group is poised to further benefit from his exceptional hands-on expertise and innovative vision.

Kgomotso Lekola –

Kgomotso is the Founder and Group Managing Director of the BT Industrial Group. With over 24 years of diverse experience and strong leadership skills, he has successfully guided the company’s growth across multiple sectors. Kgomotso’s achievements include the management of large-scale projects and the creation of several patents, demonstrating his commitment to innovative solutions within the industry. Under his leadership, the BT Industrial Group has received two presidential awards for its dedication to industrial development and innovation. Kgomotso’s ethos to business leadership is about delivering extraordinary returns to customers. In addition to his business accomplishments, Kgomotso has contributed to academia as an MBA-level Statistics lecturer at GIBS and has been involved in governmental panels to promote business in South Africa. His multifaceted expertise and achievements have established him as a respected figure in the industrial sector.

Farai Chamisa –

As the Group Executive of Engineering at BT Industrial Group, Farai has been instrumental in leading the company to success through his expertise in CAPEX expansion and technical implementations. With 30 years of experience in engineering, including 17 years in senior positions at Sasol, Farai’s knowledge has been essential to the growth of BT Industrial. He has successfully managed major projects, such as a R10bn coal-to-gas plant and a US$800 million hydroelectric power station in Zambia, demonstrating his diverse skill set. Farai’s leadership has also contributed to multiple awards and patents for BT Industrial, showcasing his impact on the company’s innovation and development in the industrial sector.

Kgomotso Maphai –
Group Executive Head Business Development & Marketing

Kgomotso Maphai is an accomplished marketer and executive, with a diverse portfolio in industries such as telecoms, media, engineering, and financial services. His strategic acumen and innovative approach have led to remarkable achievements, particularly in his role in drastically increasing the penetration of Telkom Mobile and data products in the public sector. Transforming almost negligible levels into revenues in the hundreds of millions of Rands in less than 24 months, Kgomotso’s impact has been nothing short of transformative. Currently serving as the Group Executive Sales and Marketing at BT Industrial Group, he is the driving force behind the creative marketing and sales strategies that have enabled the company to grow globally. His dynamic leadership and ability to craft and implement effective strategies have positioned Kgomotso as a leading figure in his field, contributing significantly to the business success and innovation in the sectors he’s engaged with.

Mekgwe Mfolo –

Mekgwe is an accomplished Professional Technologist Engineer with over twenty years of experience in project management, executive and board management, and has worked with prominent EPCM firms like Worley. He has served as Executive for Mining, Minerals, and Metals Projects across various regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa, Qatar, and Kuwait. He has also held the position of Head of Construction Management, where he demonstrated strong strategic leadership and collaboration skills. With his hands-on experience as a process engineer metallurgist and international exposure across various sectors, Mekgwe has gained a profound understanding of business dynamics and innovative problem-solving approaches. He has recently joined the BT Industrial Group as Group Executive Projects and Technology, where he aims to leverage his multifaceted expertise to build and grow the pipe system and process plant practice.

Bertus Van Niekerk –

Bertus Van Niekerk is Group Chief Financial Officer with more than 25 years of experience in various industries, including manufacturing.

Given BT Industrial’s steady expansion and global ventures, Bertus’s wealth of expertise undoubtedly proves to be an asset to the company. In his new position, he oversees all financial operations across the group, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with governance standards.

Bertus’s impressive career includes starting as an audit manager and progressing to executive leadership roles in various businesses. His skill set includes handling complex acquisitions, creating taxation structures, and refining budgeting, management reporting, cash flow management, and balance sheet engineering. His approach to system design and control ensures our operations remain streamlined, compliant, and effective.

Chris Swanepoel –

Chris’ journey began as a Clinical Technologist at Tygerberg Hospital in 1985. Since then he has built an illustrious career working with renowned organisations such as Adcock Ingram and various eminent medical device firms. Along the way his entrepreneurial spirit led him to found and successfully sell medical enterprises, culminating in his role as managing director at Ascendis Medical.

What sets Chris apart is his diverse skill set. He has expertise in multiple domains including vascular and medical devices. Additionally, Chris possesses exceptional skills in sales operations, sales management, and capital equipment.

With Chris’ impressive professional trajectory and credentials, BT Medical Devices is better positioned for greater success as we strive to revolutionise the industry.

Over the course of his 30-year career, Itu has held positions at prominent financial institutions such as Standard Corporate & Merchant Bank, Citigroup, and Merrill Lynch Investment Bank. He has also made significant contributions at Alexander Forbes Financial Services.

At BT Industrial, Itu plays a crucial role in managing and aligning stakeholder relationships strategically. His expertise allows him to guide these relationships and ensure they harmoniously align with our broader aspirations. Itu interacts with diverse stakeholders, including governments, civil society, local and international clients, and the wider community.
